This year, 22 young people are starting their training at OQ Chemicals in Oberhausen in the natural sciences, commercial and industrial/technical fields. The globally active company offers tomorrow’s skilled workers a wide range of apprenticeships with good prospects for the future. In addition to chemical technicians, chemical laboratory assistants and industrial clerks, the company is also training mechatronics engineers for the first time this year.
Solid training with prospects
“Promoting and securing young talent is a top priority for us. As a leading global manufacturer, we invest specifically in highly qualified training right from the start. As a result, in recent years our apprentices have always been among the best graduates in the region — the ideal basis for a professional start to their careers. As a company with a long-term focus, we show young people the prospects for the future: We fill vacancies primarily with our own employees. So an apprenticeship with us can be the start of a successful career with the company.”

Farewell to training manager Gerald Mosel
At the start of the new training year, there is a new face at the company: Gerald Mosel, Head of Training until 2020, is retiring. Maximilian Schrenner will be the new head of training.
“With Gerald Mosel, an active part of the company is leaving; his absence will be felt in many places in the future,” said Dr. Oliver Borgmeier, Managing Director. “Thanks to him, training at the Oberhausen site enjoys an excellent reputation, which is underlined by numerous IHK honors. Quality in training and working with young people were always important to him. For his new phase in life, we sincerely wish Gerald Mosel all the best for the future. We thank him for his tireless commitment, his many years of loyalty to the company, and for the constructive and good cooperation in his role as a member and Chairman of the General Works Council.”
