HORIBA, the manufacturer of analytical and measuring instruments, has now announced the official completion and commissioning of its new plant in Magdeburg-Barleben in Saxony-Anhalt and the expansion of its subsidiary in Leichlingen in North Rhine-Westphalia. The company is thus responding to the growing demand for new technologies in the fields of electromobility, new energy sources and process and environmental engineering, and will create a total of up to 270 new jobs.
“Our investment in both site expansions is a milestone for our further growth. It is a response to the increasing demand from vehicle manufacturers to reduce emissions, the rapidly growing importance of a clean energy supply for energy-intensive industries such as the chemical and steel industries, and the increase in environmental monitoring technology to measure pollutants. With our expertise in electrolyzer and fuel cell technology in Magdeburg-Barleben and the new expanded capacities for our process technology in Leichlingen, we are well positioned to meet these current and future market requirements.”

eHUB in Magdeburg-Barleben
The new company building called “eHUB” in the Technology Park Ostfalen in Magdeburg-Barleben is the new headquarters of FuelCon GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary. In addition to 7,000 square meters of production space, the building has around 3,000 square meters of office space, offers space for up to 325 employees and was constructed in just 18 months with an investment of 30 million euros.
“With five times the production space as well as the switch to lean production, Evaluator series solutions can be manufactured and fully commissioned more quickly. The infrastructure also enables the development of new, significantly higher-performance product solutions that meet tomorrow’s requirements today,” explains FuelCon CEO Dr. Ingo Benecke.
Expansion of Leichlingen site
With the new building in Leichlingen, HORIBA Europe GmbH has more than doubled its production and office space. “The expansion not only allows us to increase the capacity and efficiency of our P&E production, but also provides more space for our P&E and Automotive Service Center. In addition, we will increase our focus on process measurement technology and manufacture related products and provide related services on site,” said Dr. Torsten Laube, Segment Leader Process & Environmental. The company invested around €6.0 million in the new facility and will be able to increase its workforce in Leichlingen by up to 30%.
