Site expansions due to increased demand for new technologies

HORIBA, the man­u­fac­tur­er of ana­lyt­i­cal and mea­sur­ing instru­ments, has now announced the offi­cial com­ple­tion and com­mis­sion­ing of its new plant in Magde­burg-Bar­leben in Sax­ony-Anhalt and the expan­sion of its sub­sidiary in Leich­lin­gen in North Rhine-West­phalia. The com­pa­ny is thus respond­ing to the grow­ing demand for new tech­nolo­gies in the fields of elec­tro­mo­bil­i­ty, new ener­gy sources and process and envi­ron­men­tal engi­neer­ing, and will cre­ate a total of up to 270 new jobs.

It is a response to the increas­ing demand from vehi­cle man­u­fac­tur­ers to reduce emis­sions, the rapid­ly grow­ing impor­tance of a clean ener­gy sup­ply for ener­gy-inten­sive indus­tries such as the chem­i­cal and steel indus­tries, and the increase in envi­ron­men­tal mon­i­tor­ing tech­nol­o­gy to mea­sure pol­lu­tants. With our exper­tise in elec­trolyz­er and fuel cell tech­nol­o­gy in Magde­burg-Bar­leben and the new expand­ed capac­i­ties for our process tech­nol­o­gy in Leich­lin­gen, we are well posi­tioned to meet these cur­rent and future mar­ket requirements.”

eHUB in Magdeburg-Barleben

The new com­pa­ny build­ing called “eHUB” in the Tech­nol­o­gy Park Ost­falen in Magde­burg-Bar­leben is the new head­quar­ters of Fuel­Con GmbH, a whol­ly owned sub­sidiary.  In addi­tion to 7,000 square meters of pro­duc­tion space, the build­ing has around 3,000 square meters of office space, offers space for up to 325 employ­ees and was con­struct­ed in just 18 months with an invest­ment of 30 mil­lion euros.

“With five times the pro­duc­tion space as well as the switch to lean pro­duc­tion, Eval­u­a­tor series solu­tions can be man­u­fac­tured and ful­ly com­mis­sioned more quick­ly. The infra­struc­ture also enables the devel­op­ment of new, sig­nif­i­cant­ly high­er-per­for­mance prod­uct solu­tions that meet tomor­row’s require­ments today,” explains Fuel­Con CEO Dr. Ingo Benecke.

Expansion of Leichlingen site

With the new build­ing in Leich­lin­gen, HORIBA Europe GmbH has more than dou­bled its pro­duc­tion and office space. “The expan­sion not only allows us to increase the capac­i­ty and effi­cien­cy of our P&E pro­duc­tion, but also pro­vides more space for our P&E and Auto­mo­tive Ser­vice Cen­ter. In addi­tion, we will increase our focus on process mea­sure­ment tech­nol­o­gy and man­u­fac­ture relat­ed prod­ucts and pro­vide relat­ed ser­vices on site,” said Dr. Torsten Laube, Seg­ment Leader Process & Envi­ron­men­tal. The com­pa­ny invest­ed around €6.0 mil­lion in the new facil­i­ty and will be able to increase its work­force in Leich­lin­gen by up to 30%.
