Series order for V‑shaped display worth over 1 billion euros 

Con­ti­nen­tal’s dis­play port­fo­lio is now being expand­ed with a series order for V‑shaped dis­plays worth more than one bil­lion euros. The solu­tion will be inte­grat­ed into sev­er­al vehi­cle mod­els of a glob­al­ly active Asian vehi­cle man­u­fac­tur­er. The tech­nol­o­gy com­pa­ny is thus fur­ther dri­ving the suc­cess of large, seam­less and indi­vid­u­al­ly shaped dis­plays that enrich the user expe­ri­ence as a deci­sive sur­face in the cockpit.

The V‑shape con­sists of flat back­lit dis­plays cov­ered with curved glass. The solu­tion extends from the dri­ver’s area to the cen­ter con­sole and visu­al­ly con­nects the two screens of the instru­ment clus­ter and the cen­tral dis­play under one sur­face. The radius and angle of the dis­play solu­tion are cen­tered on the dri­ver’s per­spec­tive so that the dri­ver or pas­sen­ger is at the cen­ter of the infor­ma­tion out­put. The ergonom­ics of the dis­play make it even eas­i­er for him or her to per­ceive rel­e­vant infor­ma­tion more quick­ly, which reduces dis­trac­tion and can make dri­ving safer. Pro­duc­tion is sched­uled to start in 2023.

V‑shaped display meets the need for highly customized shapes and designs 

Thanks to the use of a spe­cial adhe­sive tech­nol­o­gy called opti­cal bond­ing, there is no vis­i­ble bound­ary or gap between the instru­ment clus­ter and the embed­ded cen­tral dis­play, result­ing in a seam­less appear­ance. The free­stand­ing design of the dis­play allows it to be har­mo­nious­ly inte­grat­ed into curved lines of ele­gant dash­board shapes. 

Due to the spe­cial radius cre­at­ed by the V‑shaped arrange­ment, all dis­play con­tent is shown at almost the same view­ing dis­tance, mak­ing con­tent even more com­fort­able to read. The dis­play solu­tion thus cre­ates a holis­tic expe­ri­ence that not only ensures spe­cial user-friend­li­ness, but can also fur­ther enhance dri­ving safety.
