For more than two years, the Delegated Regulation (EU) 2016/161 for the protection of prescription medicines has now regulated the counterfeit protection of these very medicines that require a prescription. By signing the contract on May 6, 2021, the pharmaceutical company Pohl-Boskamp decided to implement the complex requirements with the help of the “Arvato CSDB” software solution.
No prescription medication may be in circulation within the EU without a unique QR code as well as a device to prevent tampering. Corresponding measures enable the verification of medicines for their identity, authenticity and integrity. The aim of the system is to prevent counterfeit medicines from entering the legal supply chain.
Pohl-Boskamp markets its branded products worldwide. As a medium-sized company, efficient and cost-effective maintenance of the system as well as fast and dynamic implementation of new requirements are essential for the company’s success.
“Arvato CSDB” replaces the heterogeneous serialization solution previously in use at the group, which consisted of different systems for different markets. The aim is to ensure the global marketing of the product portfolio in the long term. In addition to the efficiency gains, global market requirements, such as in Russia, should be able to be implemented faster and more cost-effectively than before within the scope of serialization. The “Arvato CSDB” as a Service solution will be used to replace part of the existing system.
In addition to implementing the “Arvato CSDB”, Arvato Systems will also provide Pohl-Boskamp with consulting services and support in implementing or maintaining the dynamic requirements on a global level.
“During the selection process, Arvato Systems convinced us of the added value of the ‘Arvato CSDB’ solution and of its technical expertise around global serialization requirements through its competent support. We are very much looking forward to a successful and long-term cooperation.”
