Karlsruhe-based Vulcan Energie Ressourcen has had a woman on its management board since October 2021 with Beate Holzwarth as CCO. She complements the trio now formed around CEO Dr. Horst Kreuter and COO Thorsten Weimann in corporate communications. From now on, Holzwarth will in particular lead project communications for the sustainable Zero Carbon LithiumTM project in the Upper Rhine Graben region.
“Beate’s experience in the German automotive industry with Mercedes-Benz and her in-depth knowledge of the Upper Rhine Graben region are invaluable to us. She brings the optimal prerequisites to combine the region’s potential with the enormous relevance of our project and thus establish the Upper Rhine Graben as a long-term and forward-looking center of e‑mobility.”
- Dr. Horst Kreuter, Managing Director
Holzwarth studied business administration/marketing in Ludwigshafen am Rhein and communications in Berlin. With more than 20 years of experience in various communications and marketing functions at Mercedes-Benz Cars as well as Daimler Trucks and as a direct employee of the divisional board member Mercedes-Benz Cars Operations, she was in charge of the openings of national and international production sites with the involvement of any state representatives and local politicians.
The first project Holzwarth is now responsible for is sustainable lithium mining in the Upper Rhine Graben. As part of this project, Vulcan Energie Ressourcen intends to exploit the potential of the largest lithium deposit in Europe as early as 2024 and to extract the lithium CO2-free. In this way, the company wants to distinguish itself from the environmentally harmful mining methods in South America/Australia or China and at the same time promote the strengthening of a European battery industry. The Zero Carbon LithiumTM product will subsequently only be processed at European locations in the automotive and battery industry. Framework agreements are already in place with Renault and LG Energy Solution, among others.
