Reflecting the high levels of interest in flexible packaging – both for its performance and role in the circular economy – the Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE) summer conference attracted a record number of attendees to the event, which was held recently in Naples, Italy.
During the conference Gérard Blatrix of Amcor Flexibles was re-elected to serve a second term as Chairman of FPE. Michele Guala (Gualapack) and Stefan Gutheil (Wipak) were elected as Vice-Chairmen.
During the conference FPE could officially welcome six new member companies in addition to the 80+ members of the trade association who represent around 85% of the turnover in the European flexible packaging market. FPE is well established as the authoritative voice for the sector while having conducted several studies on the role of flexible packaging in the circular economy alongside its superior sustainability performance. In addition to other activities initiated, it helped founding the Ceflex consortium to improve the recycling infrastructure and collection of flexible packaging across Europe.
“I am honoured to be re-elected as chairman and greatly appreciate the confidence this shows in my leadership of the group from the members, and for our work supporting the development of the flexible packaging industry in Europe. We will carry on our work to promote flexible packaging as a more sustainable packaging solution.”
