PushPull plug-in connectors for copper and POF

The u‑remote fam­i­ly from Wei­d­müller is estab­lished on the mar­ket and now includes the new Push­Pull mod­ules UR67. The IP67 I/O mod­ules with cop­per and POF con­nec­tions are cer­ti­fied accord­ing to Profinet IRT V2.3. u‑remote is an ele­ment of the u‑mation automa­tion and dig­i­tal­i­sa­tion port­fo­lio. The new IP67 I/O mod­ules are ide­al for use in ful­ly-auto­mat­ed pro­duc­tion process­es in harsh con­di­tions, such as for con­trol­ling weld­ing robots in the auto­mo­tive indus­try. In fast-paced auto­mo­tive pro­duc­tion, even the short­est down­times are extreme­ly cost­ly. For this rea­son, these kinds of appli­ca­tions require a high lev­el of reli­a­bil­i­ty, the pos­si­bil­i­ty to take pre­ven­tive main­te­nance mea­sures through means of diag­no­sis and the abil­i­ty to quick­ly replace parts. The mod­ules there­fore sup­port the Profinet Fast Start-Up (FSU) func­tion, which enables rapid start-up. Thanks to this fea­ture, the equip­ment is ready for oper­a­tion in less than 500 ms. This means that appli­ca­tions such as tool chang­ing can be opti­mised. The inte­grat­ed web serv­er enables sim­ple com­mis­sion­ing and quick trou­bleshoot­ing in the event of an error. Fur­ther­more, firmware updates and down­grades are also pos­si­ble of course. The new mod­ules are avail­able in two vari­ants: with 16DI and 8DI/8DO.

One high­light of the new mod­ules is that they can also be inte­grat­ed in cop­per and POF instal­la­tion sys­tems using Push­Pull plug-in con­nec­tors. The instal­la­tion sys­tem for robot­ics cabling is designed to be uni­ver­sal and con­forms with the cabling guide­lines for Profinet, the stan­dard that the AIDA mem­bers apply con­sis­tent­ly and with­out excep­tion for new sys­tems. This way, they wish to estab­lish stan­dard­i­s­a­tion in the area of Indus­tri­al Eth­er­net. Push­Pull was designed specif­i­cal­ly for these require­ments. The sys­tem con­sists of coor­di­nat­ed indi­vid­ual plug-in com­po­nents for the wiring of cable sets and thus reduces the instal­la­tion effort by around 50%. Users can use these com­po­nents to plug in the three basic ele­ments of indus­tri­al automa­tion – pow­er, sig­nals and data – via Plug & Play. The robust met­al hous­ings enclos­ing the con­nec­tors ensure a long lifes­pan, even when used for appli­ca­tions in harsh envi­ron­ments. The UR67 I/O mod­ules and the Push­Pull plug-in con­nec­tors are designed for a feed-in cur­rent of 2 x 16A. There­fore, lots of mod­ules can be sup­plied with­out hav­ing to re-feed-in. Wei­d­müller uses RJ45 com­po­nents of cat­e­go­ry 6_A for data trans­mis­sion because these have a con­sid­er­ably high­er sys­tem reserve than cat­e­go­ry 5 com­po­nents, and also uses POF/SCRJ plug-in con­nec­tors. The new Push­Pull mod­ules com­plete the com­pre­hen­sive solu­tion for robot­ics cabling that up until now has includ­ed repeaters, media con­vert­ers, Push­Pull plug-in con­nec­tors and cables.
