The u‑remote family from Weidmüller is established on the market and now includes the new PushPull modules UR67. The IP67 I/O modules with copper and POF connections are certified according to Profinet IRT V2.3. u‑remote is an element of the u‑mation automation and digitalisation portfolio. The new IP67 I/O modules are ideal for use in fully-automated production processes in harsh conditions, such as for controlling welding robots in the automotive industry. In fast-paced automotive production, even the shortest downtimes are extremely costly. For this reason, these kinds of applications require a high level of reliability, the possibility to take preventive maintenance measures through means of diagnosis and the ability to quickly replace parts. The modules therefore support the Profinet Fast Start-Up (FSU) function, which enables rapid start-up. Thanks to this feature, the equipment is ready for operation in less than 500 ms. This means that applications such as tool changing can be optimised. The integrated web server enables simple commissioning and quick troubleshooting in the event of an error. Furthermore, firmware updates and downgrades are also possible of course. The new modules are available in two variants: with 16DI and 8DI/8DO.
One highlight of the new modules is that they can also be integrated in copper and POF installation systems using PushPull plug-in connectors. The installation system for robotics cabling is designed to be universal and conforms with the cabling guidelines for Profinet, the standard that the AIDA members apply consistently and without exception for new systems. This way, they wish to establish standardisation in the area of Industrial Ethernet. PushPull was designed specifically for these requirements. The system consists of coordinated individual plug-in components for the wiring of cable sets and thus reduces the installation effort by around 50%. Users can use these components to plug in the three basic elements of industrial automation – power, signals and data – via Plug & Play. The robust metal housings enclosing the connectors ensure a long lifespan, even when used for applications in harsh environments. The UR67 I/O modules and the PushPull plug-in connectors are designed for a feed-in current of 2 x 16A. Therefore, lots of modules can be supplied without having to re-feed-in. Weidmüller uses RJ45 components of category 6A for data transmission because these have a considerably higher system reserve than category 5 components, and also uses POF/SCRJ plug-in connectors. The new PushPull modules complete the comprehensive solution for robotics cabling that up until now has included repeaters, media converters, PushPull plug-in connectors and cables.
