Not only the public sewer network, but also private pipes would have to be expertly planned and maintained with the help of condition and function tests.
“Even if a uniform federal ordinance on leak testing of private sewage pipes is not foreseeable in the current political landscape, we’re staying on the ball.”
- Dipl.-Ing. Dirk Bellinghausen of the Güteschutz Grundstücksentwässerung (Property Drainage Quality Association)
Currently, he said, there must be a “reasonable suspicion” that requires homeowners to have their drainage system inspected. “This is not a sufficient criterion for avoiding damage,” adds Dipl.-Ing. Tobias Rottmann of Kasselwasser. Wastewater pipes and sewers, he says, are technically a complete system. They can only function trouble-free if all parts of the system work together.
The topic is still urgent for the wastewater industry and is therefore once again the subject of the Property Drainage Days of the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA). (DWA), which will be held in Fulda on February 2–3, 2022, but can also be followed online. In addition to Bellinghausen and Rottmann, who will chair the conference, numerous speakers from science and practice will comment on various key topics.
Among other things, the event will deal with light liquid separators, drainage systems and scope for action for operators in the investigation and rehabilitation of property drainage systems.Approval procedures, retention and infiltration will also be addressed. In addition, the practical experience of a rehabilitation company will be reported on. The new DWA course “Fachplaner*in Grundstücksentwässerungen-Regenwasser” will be presented.
The conference is aimed primarily at engineers, architects, plumbers, sewerage engineers and municipal authorities. A trade exhibition will present innovations from the market of inspection, testing and rehabilitation methods.
