Now, for the first time, the Alpla Group has been awarded platinum status for sustainability by EcoVadis 2021. This puts the company — an internationally active manufacturer of plastic packaging and recycling specialist — in the top percent of all 75,000 evaluated companies.
75,000 companies from 200 business sectors and 160 countries complete the self-assessment by EcoVadis — the world’s largest and most trusted provider of corporate sustainability assessments — each year. Major global companies, including many of the Group’s customers, use EcoVadis assessments to measure the value of sustainability and responsibility among their suppliers and to verify that they operate with high ethical and environmental standards.
The assessment of the four fields of environment, sustainable purchasing, ethics, and labor and human rights indicates how socially responsible a company behaves. The topics of health and safety also play an important role. Within these four main topics, a total of 21 different criteria are assessed.
Strong improvements
Alpla has been using EcoVadis for several years and has been able to continuously improve its ratings over the years. This year, the Group scored 73 out of a possible 100 points, placing it among the best (top 1 percent) of all participating companies that use EcoVadis to measure their CSR (corporate social responsibility). For this, EcoVadis awarded the company with Platinum status. Last year, the company had achieved Gold status, and two years ago Silver status, documenting the enormous improvements made in recent years. The award is another milestone in the company’s sustainability management activities, which it will continue to expand in the future.
“We are very pleased that our extensive efforts at all levels of sustainability management have been rewarded by EcoVadis with Platinum status.”
