Now TDK Corporation (TSE 6762) also offers the TDK Lambda AC-DC power modules of the PFH500F series with 12V and 48V output voltage. The efficient modules with 504W output power are cooled via a baseplate, making them ideal for outdoor use. A PMBus™ interface allows both monitoring and programming of important parameters. The modules are thus predestined for use in waterproof and dustproof housings for LED displays, transmit amplifiers, environmental measurement technology and object monitoring.
The modules are based on the latest topologies, including GaN semiconductors, integrated rectifier/PFC stage (bridgeless PFC) and digital control, achieving up to 92% efficiency. Digital transformers replace conventional optocouplers and provide long-term stability and reliability.
They operate with a wide range input of 85 to 265 Vac. The 12V model can be adjusted from 9.6 to 14.4V using a trim pin or PMBus™ command and delivers 42A. The 48V model can be adjusted from 38.4 to 52.8V and delivers 10.5A. All modules operate at a baseplate temperature of ‑40°C to +100°C and, at just 101.6 x 61.0 x 13.5mm (L x W x H), are even slightly more compact than a full-brick.
Module features include a 12V standby voltage, remote ON/OFF, remote sense, a power-good signal as an open collector, and passive current sharing in droop mode for parallel connection. Using PMBus™ command, the output voltage can be set, the output can be turned ON/OFF, and the response thresholds for under/over voltage, current limit and over temperature can be adjusted. Furthermore, input and output current, input voltage and internal temperature can be read back.
Isolation between input and output is 3,000Vac, between input and case 2,500Vac, and between output and case 1,500Vdc. Safety approval is based on IEC/UL/CSA/EN 62368–1 with CE and UKCA marking for low voltage and RoHS directives. Ready-to-connect evaluation kits allow interested users to get started easily without prior design effort.
