Quality, safety and ease of installation: The new corrugated tube system from PFLITSCH is ideal when it comes to safe cable protection, e.g. in railroad technology. Here, for example, cables have to be routed reliably and flexibly between wagons, in underfloor installation or on the vehicle roof. The corrugated tubes and fittings made of high-quality polyamide cover the widest possible range of applications, including EMC protection.
The system offers maximum safety for cables in railroad applications. It consists of eight corrugated tube types in the profile variants coarse and fine in nominal widths NW7 to NW48 with inside diameters from 6.2 mm to 48.5 mm. All components are approved for operating temperatures from ‑40 °C to +105 °C, the corrugated tube for high-temperature applications even up to +150 °C. The corrugated tube system is also extremely resistant to mechanical and chemical stresses and has very good weathering and UV resistance — crucial for outdoor use. Especially for the rail industry, some versions meet the highest fire protection standards for rail vehicles according to EN 45545–2.
High protection classes up to IP 69 and durable, reliable sealing
The certified system is available in three versions: even the basic version achieves the high IP protection class 66. In the version with an additional sealing ring on the corrugated tube, the system meets the highest requirements of protection classes IP 68 and IP 69. The UNI ProTect version with the integrated UNI Dicht cable gland also ensures optimum strain relief for the cable and reliably seals the installation at the corrugated tube ends.
Even in the event of mechanical damage to the corrugated tube, this premium design prevents moisture from entering the housing along the cable. Since the soft and large-area seal does not irreparably constrict the cable sheath, the system results in a durable and long-lasting cable entry with the high IP protection classes IP 68 and IP 69. The UNI ProTect is available in sizes M12 to M63 for cable diameters from 4.0 mm to 44.0 mm.
Reliable EMC protection in three variants
For the ProTect EMC fittings, the company offers different solutions: The version with cone contacting has excellent attenuation values at low acquisition costs. The version with spring contacting ensures simple, fast and reliable installation: since the cable shield does not have to be separated at the contact point, the cable shield and cable sheath can continue to the clamping point in the housing.
To install several cables in an EMC-safe and space-saving manner, there is the ProTect EMC fitting with multiple contacting, a solution that is unique on the market: the various cable shields are contacted separately by individual TRI springs in a reliable manner. The Group manufactures this solution customer-specifically according to the cable cross sections used. It impresses with high shielding effectiveness, good current carrying capacity and space-saving installation, as several cables can be installed in a corrugated tube with just one fitting in the smallest possible space.
Installation — simple and reliable
The ProTect fittings bring the plus of system safety: Their characteristic locking ring ensures that the corrugated pipes remain securely and permanently fixed even in the event of strong vibrations, tensile loads or rapid movements. This is because during assembly, the corrugated pipe is locked in the fitting with a deliberate locking process, which increases the operational safety of the installation. Likewise, the unit can be easily unlocked again and the corrugated tube pulled out.
