Integrated cable gland for the cable protection system

Qual­i­ty, safe­ty and ease of instal­la­tion: The new cor­ru­gat­ed tube sys­tem from PFLITSCH is ide­al when it comes to safe cable pro­tec­tion, e.g. in rail­road tech­nol­o­gy. Here, for exam­ple, cables have to be rout­ed reli­ably and flex­i­bly between wag­ons, in under­floor instal­la­tion or on the vehi­cle roof. The cor­ru­gat­ed tubes and fit­tings made of high-qual­i­ty polyamide cov­er the widest pos­si­ble range of appli­ca­tions, includ­ing EMC protection.

The sys­tem offers max­i­mum safe­ty for cables in rail­road appli­ca­tions. It con­sists of eight cor­ru­gat­ed tube types in the pro­file vari­ants coarse and fine in nom­i­nal widths NW7 to NW48 with inside diam­e­ters from 6.2 mm to 48.5 mm. All com­po­nents are approved for oper­at­ing tem­per­a­tures from ‑40 °C to +105 °C, the cor­ru­gat­ed tube for high-tem­per­a­ture appli­ca­tions even up to +150 °C. The cor­ru­gat­ed tube sys­tem is also extreme­ly resis­tant to mechan­i­cal and chem­i­cal stress­es and has very good weath­er­ing and UV resis­tance — cru­cial for out­door use. Espe­cial­ly for the rail indus­try, some ver­sions meet the high­est fire pro­tec­tion stan­dards for rail vehi­cles accord­ing to EN 45545–2.

High protection classes up to IP 69 and durable, reliable sealing

The cer­ti­fied sys­tem is avail­able in three ver­sions: even the basic ver­sion achieves the high IP pro­tec­tion class 66. In the ver­sion with an addi­tion­al seal­ing ring on the cor­ru­gat­ed tube, the sys­tem meets the high­est require­ments of pro­tec­tion class­es IP 68 and IP 69. The UNI Pro­Tect ver­sion with the inte­grat­ed UNI Dicht cable gland also ensures opti­mum strain relief for the cable and reli­ably seals the instal­la­tion at the cor­ru­gat­ed tube ends.

Even in the event of mechan­i­cal dam­age to the cor­ru­gat­ed tube, this pre­mi­um design pre­vents mois­ture from enter­ing the hous­ing along the cable. Since the soft and large-area seal does not irrepara­bly con­strict the cable sheath, the sys­tem results in a durable and long-last­ing cable entry with the high IP pro­tec­tion class­es IP 68 and IP 69. The UNI Pro­Tect is avail­able in sizes M12 to M63 for cable diam­e­ters from 4.0 mm to 44.0 mm.

Reliable EMC protection in three variants

For the Pro­Tect EMC fit­tings, the com­pa­ny offers dif­fer­ent solu­tions: The ver­sion with cone con­tact­ing has excel­lent atten­u­a­tion val­ues at low acqui­si­tion costs. The ver­sion with spring con­tact­ing ensures sim­ple, fast and reli­able instal­la­tion: since the cable shield does not have to be sep­a­rat­ed at the con­tact point, the cable shield and cable sheath can con­tin­ue to the clamp­ing point in the housing.

To install sev­er­al cables in an EMC-safe and space-sav­ing man­ner, there is the Pro­Tect EMC fit­ting with mul­ti­ple con­tact­ing, a solu­tion that is unique on the mar­ket: the var­i­ous cable shields are con­tact­ed sep­a­rate­ly by indi­vid­ual TRI springs in a reli­able man­ner. The Group man­u­fac­tures this solu­tion cus­tomer-specif­i­cal­ly accord­ing to the cable cross sec­tions used. It impress­es with high shield­ing effec­tive­ness, good cur­rent car­ry­ing capac­i­ty and space-sav­ing instal­la­tion, as sev­er­al cables can be installed in a cor­ru­gat­ed tube with just one fit­ting in the small­est pos­si­ble space.

Installation — simple and reliable

The Pro­Tect fit­tings bring the plus of sys­tem safe­ty: Their char­ac­ter­is­tic lock­ing ring ensures that the cor­ru­gat­ed pipes remain secure­ly and per­ma­nent­ly fixed even in the event of strong vibra­tions, ten­sile loads or rapid move­ments. This is because dur­ing assem­bly, the cor­ru­gat­ed pipe is locked in the fit­ting with a delib­er­ate lock­ing process, which increas­es the oper­a­tional safe­ty of the instal­la­tion. Like­wise, the unit can be eas­i­ly unlocked again and the cor­ru­gat­ed tube pulled out.
