New high potency mRNA-based vaccines against COVID-19, Ebola and CGTs also require ultra-low temperature at all stages of the supply chain. Secop, a supplier of refrigeration compressors to the medical sector, has launched five new products for this “ULT” (Ultra Low Temperatures from ‑60 °C to ‑86 °C) range. The compressors — one for mobile use, four for stationary use, three of which can also be used in the biomedical range from ‑30 °C to ‑60 °C — are part of a product series specifically for medical applications, which will be further expanded in the future. The new refrigeration compressors will enable manufacturers to develop commercial refrigeration equipment with high customer benefits.
The advantages for using ULT refrigeration compressors are that manufacturers of medical refrigeration solutions benefit from both the robust products and software tools and experts to assist them with product development and customization. This enables a smooth and efficient process in the validation and verification of the refrigeration unit, bringing it to market faster.
ULT’s stationary refrigeration compressors are applicable across the global voltage range. They are available for refrigerated containers with volumes from 20 to 200 and from 200 to 500 liters. The mobile refrigeration compressor, which can be used for 20- to 40-liter refrigerated containers, incorporates the company’s experience with battery- and solar-powered active refrigeration systems. The option of battery or solar operation makes the ULT mobile solution suitable even for distribution of vaccines and other biomaterials in remote regions with high outdoor temperatures and no power grid.
“Some of the world’s leading manufacturers of medical cooling solutions have relied on our products for many years. Experience with such medical applications has helped us to develop the ULT refrigeration compressors as well. Energy-saving and product life-extending measures, as well as the preference for natural refrigerants, make our solutions particularly sustainable and attractive for users and manufacturers.”
