Innovations in process measurement technology

At IFAT 2018, Krohne will be pre­sent­ing mea­sur­ing tech­nol­o­gy for the water and waste­water indus­tries. With the new lay­out of exhi­bi­tion sec­tions, the “process mea­sur­ing and con­trol tech­nol­o­gy” sec­tion has moved to hall C1: the com­pa­ny now wel­comes their vis­i­tors at booth 339/438, pre­sent­ing a com­plete port­fo­lio for flow, lev­el, pres­sure and tem­per­a­ture mea­sure­ment as well as process ana­lyt­ics with sev­er­al inn­va­tions and high­lights: For par­tial­ly filled pipes, Tidalflux elec­tro­mag­net­ic flowme­ter with inte­grat­ed capac­i­tive lev­el mea­sure­ment is now avail­able with Profinet, allow­ing for simul­ta­ne­ous com­mu­ni­ca­tion of mul­ti­ple para­me­ters, e.g, flow rate, height lev­el of medi­um in the pipeline as well as its con­duc­tiv­i­tiy. It adds to all x300 Opti­flus and Water­flux elec­tro­mag­net­ic flowme­ters and all x400 Opro­mass Cori­o­lis mass flowme­ters that are already avail­able with Profinet com­mu­ni­ca­tion. With elec­tro­mag­net­ic flowme­ters, e.g. vol­ume flow rate and the con­duc­tiv­i­ty mea­sure­ment (inte­grat­ed as stan­dard), can be trans­mit­ted simultaneously.
Anoth­er high­light in the prod­ucts sec­tion is the Optibar PC 5060 pres­sure trans­mit­ter with ceram­ic diaphragm for advanced process pres­sure and lev­el appli­ca­tions: on a new fair mod­el, vis­i­tors can test for them­selves if the diaphragm can with­stand over­load up to 35 times nom­i­nal pres­sure, e.g. in case of a line shock in water networks.
Togeth­er with indus­try part­ners such as, Wilo, VAG Phoenix­Con­tact and oth­ers, the com­pa­ny offers instru­men­ta­tion and con­trol solu­tions for a num­ber of  water and waste­water appli­ca­tions. Four joint demon­stra­tion mod­els on the booth show the solu­tions for rain­wa­ter man­age­ment, the use and pos­si­bil­i­ties of Profinet in water indus­try as well as leak­age man­age­ment in water sup­ply net­works. The lat­est addi­tion is a mod­el to show pos­si­bil­i­ties for (wire­less) data com­mu­ni­ca­tion from remote mea­sur­ing points, which is an increas­ing field espe­cial­ly in water meter­ing. Here, the firm part­nered with Phoenix­Con­tact to demon­strate radio and mobile trans­mis­sion of mea­sure­ment val­ues, e.g. flow read­ings as well as those from the inte­grat­ed pres­sure and tem­per­a­ture sen­sors of a bat­tery-pow­ered Water­flux water meter.
In the field of ser­vices, the com­pa­ny presents pos­si­bil­i­ties for device ver­i­fi­ca­tion accord­ing to spe­cif­ic self-ver­i­fi­ca­tion reg­u­la­tions: at 11:00h and 14:00h from Mon­day to Thurs­day, a ser­vice tech­ni­cian will per­form a live meter ver­i­fi­ca­tion at the booth, fol­lowed by a com­par­i­son with a sec­ondary clamp on flowme­ter. The com­pa­ny also presents the reworked “Plan­ning Tool for Water and Waste­water Process­es” for fast and pre­cise com­pi­la­tion of ten­der doc­u­ments. In terms of train­ing and in addti­tion to the well-known Krohne Acad­e­my sem­i­nar series, now in-house train­ings or free sem­i­nars on automa­tion top­ics such as ener­gy effi­cien­cy in water and waste­water plants, metro­log­i­cal require­ments, dimen­sion­ing of devices, etc. are offered on request.
