At the Twist and Westeregeln sites, Wavin GmbH produces 100 percent with green electricity. The company has now received a corresponding certificate for the year 2022. This is further proof of the commitment of the plastic pipe specialist from Twist, which has been oriented towards sustainability for many years.
The company can document its environmental friendliness and sustainability: The company has just received a climate certificate for the year 2022. This certifies that the plastic pipe manufacturer uses green electricity. To cover its needs, it purchases the TÜV Nord-certified “Naturwatt pro” electricity from EWE Vertrieb GmbH, which is generated from 100 percent renewable energy sources. In this way, the Group is helping to avoid radioactive waste and promote the expansion of renewable energies. The green electricity, which is generated entirely from European hydropower, is CO2-neutral including upstream chain considerations.
As an internationally active company with 45 production sites in over 40 countries, the company is very aware of the impact of its actions on the environment. Above and beyond the minimum requirements of legal regulations, it takes environmental protection issues very seriously, especially with regard to energy use, energy consumption and energy efficiency throughout the entire development, production and life cycle of a product.
Exemplary commitment to climate issues for decades
The company’s ecologically responsible commitment goes back decades: Since the 1990s, Wavin has been working intensively to ensure that no production waste is generated. All surplus material is returned to the production process so that it remains in the process chain. This protects the environment and is an active contribution to the company’s internal sustainable recycling policy. But other measures also document an increased commitment to sustainability and climate issues. As early as ten years ago, Wavin equipped its production plants with photovoltaics and also relied on regeneratively generated electricity for its purchasing.
Against this background, the company has also set itself ambitious goals for the future. By 2025, it wants to become an industry leader in terms of sustainability. In this context, the use of more recycled materials and an improvement in the recyclability of products in line with the circular economy play just as important a role as the complete reduction of landfill waste and the expansion of solar modules at a total of 15 sites.
Addressing global challenges with foresight
The Twister company’s system solutions create sustainable infrastructures worldwide for supply and disposal as well as for optimizing the indoor climate. In order to be able to achieve more here globally, Wavin is part of the Orbia group of companies. The aim of this group of companies is to combine solutions for global challenges in order to work for a future worth living for all people worldwide.
