This video shows the GEA Hilge HYGIA pump series from the GEA VARIPUMP line. It consists of single-stage, non-self-priming centrifugal pumps designed for use in industries with high demands on hygiene and flexibility. Also part of this series is the GEA Hilge HYGIA H. A high-pressure pump for system pressures up to 64 bar. A typical application is membrane filtration, such as reverse osmosis (RO) and nanofiltration (NF) in the dairy, food and beverage industries.
Maintenance-free, regardless of heavy deposits
In pump shafts, the deployed measurement technology has to contend with material that can quickly influence the measuring results. In Zeulenroda, measuring with a suspended pressure transmitter through a pipe that reached down to about 10 cm above the ground was difficult. Due to a pile of sand that formed at the bottom of the shaft, inaccuracies kept occurring. To solve the problem, employees of the sewage treatment plant decided to try radar measurement with a VEGAPULS C 23 with encapsulation. The measurement now takes place contactlessly at the upper rim of the shaft. From there, the radar sensors operate without effect from dirt and buildup – or from “annoying” sand accumulations. In Zeulenroda, VEGAPULS C 23 proves that it’s possible to have a clear view despite all adversities: In any case, the sensor doesn’t care at all about accumulations of material, no matter what kind.
