Now Wuppermann Hungary Kft. has commissioned a new ASC double-headed scrap chopper in the discharge area of the combined pickling and hot-dip galvanizing line. ASC stands for Automatic Scrap Chopper.
With the new trimming shear, the flat products plant in the Hungarian port of Győr-Gönyű improves the overall quality level of its products in terms of flatness and evenness. The steel strip can now be used in other areas with particularly high demands on the flatness of the material, for example by steel service centers for the production of panels with laser cutting quality or in control cabinet construction.
The shear is used for trimming pickled as well as galvanized steel strips with zinc or zinc-magnesium coating. The production range covers strip widths trimmed from 700 to 1,600 mm and strip thicknesses between 1.00 and 6.00 mm.
The new edger was developed for operation in a continuously operating strip processing line and is characterized by a very precise mode of operation combined with reliable and cost-effective operation. With the Twinblade cutterhead system from the SMS group, Wuppermann can significantly reduce the amount of machining required for knife resharpening and at the same time save material.
Wuppermann can significantly reduce the machining effort required for knife resharpening and save material at the same time: Compared to the conventional system, the Twinblade cutterhead system is twice as efficient with two cutting edges — instead of the previous one. If one edge is worn, the knife can still be used. It is simply turned over after loosening the knife clamping piece. Until then, the clamping piece protects the second, still unused cutting edge. The second cutting edge can then continue to work.
At Wuppermann Staal Nederland B. V. in Moerdijk, the Netherlands, Wuppermann has already had good experience with the ASC double-head trimming shear.
