The Ensinger company is committed to its responsibility for climate protection. A few months ago, the plastics processor announced its intention to join the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). A corresponding commitment letter has now been signed. In it, Ensinger commits to submitting its climate targets to the SBTi and aligning them with compliance with the 1.5‑degree target. This step is to be taken in the course of the year. With the initiative, the Group also joins the “Business Ambition for 1.5 C” and “Race to Zero” campaigns.
“The SBTi is guided by recognized global standards that follow the scientific consensus on limiting global warming under the Paris Agreement. Its sound derivation means that the targets and measures are transparent, verifiable and credible.”
- Klaus Ensinger, Head of Sustainability
Dr. Oliver Frey, Managing Director at Ensinger, pointed out that the globally active family-owned company wanted to pursue an ambitious course that would have the necessary impact in the long term, both in terms of the targets and the means employed. Climate protection demands a lot from the company, Dr. Frey added. “This is a marathon, not a short sprint. With the voluntary commitment, we want to focus attention and responsibility on the agreed targets and align our activities accordingly.”
