Flexible set-up of ethernet protocols

R. Stahl is expand­ing IS1+, the Remote I/O sys­tem for haz­ardous areas, to include new CPU and pow­er mod­ules for instal­la­tion in Zone 2. As a stan­dard, the CPU mod­ule sup­ports the Eth­er­net-based com­mu­ni­ca­tion pro­to­cols Profinet, Mod­bus TCP and EtherNet/IP as well as Field­bus Profibus DP, each includ­ing Hart trans­mis­sion and FDT/DTM support.
Users can set up the required pro­to­col them­selves and thus reduce stor­age for sys­tems with dif­fer­ent automa­tion sys­tems. The mul­ti-pro­to­col-com­pat­i­bil­i­ty sup­ports flex­i­ble migra­tion and thus sim­pli­fies mod­erni­sa­tion. These mod­ules can, for exam­ple, sup­port the con­tin­ued oper­a­tion of a Profibus DP instal­la­tion with a sub­se­quent switch of the CPU to Profinet, with­out the need for any hard­ware replacements.
As a stan­dard, com­mu­ni­ca­tion for all pro­to­cols takes place via cop­per cable. In addi­tion, media con­vert­ers and switch­es with Zone 2 approval are avail­able to estab­lish fibre optic net­works with a reach of up to 30 km. Both the new CPU and the pow­er mod­ule fea­ture the intel­li­gent diag­no­sis func­tion for active main­te­nance that is usu­al for IS1+. If main­te­nance is required, this is detect­ed up to twelve months in advance, indi­cat­ed local­ly a blue LED and report­ed to high­er-rank­ing sys­tems with a mes­sage based on Namur NE107.
The new mod­els are suit­able for an expand­ed tem­per­a­ture range from ‑40 °C to +75 °C, mount­ed hor­i­zon­tal­ly or ver­ti­cal­ly. Under mod­er­ate oper­at­ing con­di­tions they will typ­i­cal­ly achieve a sys­tem oper­at­ing time of over 15 years. The new 9442 CPU and the 9445 pow­er mod­ule with 9496 base sup­ple­ment the com­pre­hen­sive range of IS1+ I/O mod­ules for intrin­si­cal­ly safe and non-intrin­si­cal­ly safe or even pneu­mat­ic field signals.
