Thanks to the Filtech trade fair, which takes place from 22nd to 24th of October 2019, Cologne will once again become the meeting point of the global filtration and separation industry with users from all relevant sectors. Filter solutions often lead a niche existence at other trade fairs; at Filtech it is just the opposite, here they take center stage.
Filtration and separation techniques are among the most important basic procedural operations in all process industries. Most raw materials and products are mixtures of substances and must therefore be filtered or separated for further processing. Another important aspect is the need for clean air in production and packaging environments to avoid contamination. In times of buzzwords, be it digitization, IoT or 5G, we must not forget these basic physical methods. Filtech 2019 is centered on this basic need of the process industries, including the ones requiring a hygienic production environment like the pharmaceutical and food & beverage industries.
The organizer expects more than 400 exhibitors on 14,000 square meters of exhibition space. Filtech continues to grow — also in terms of visitor numbers. In addition to the exhibition and the specialist conference, Filtech also offers two short courses on October 21st.
Short Courses
The short courses are aimed at engineers, scientists, managing directors and technical staff. The courses are informative and relevant to anyone involved in the development, research, purchasing or application of filtration and separation solutions. Operational engineers, technicians and operating personnel can implement the acquired knowledge directly in practice. Students and PhD students will appreciate the introduction of technology by experts.
Short Course 1: Solid / Liquid Separation
The course on “Solid / Liquid Separation” provides a comprehensive overview of processes that are part of solid / liquid separation. The emphasis is placed on practical aspects, supplemented by relevant theoretical information.
Topics of the course include:
- Particle characterization
- Density separation — static thickeners and solid bowl centrifuges
- Depth and cross flow filtration
- Cake Filtration
- Filter Media
- Suspension pre-treatment
- Apparatus combinations, alternative solutions and selection criteria
Short Course 2: Fine Dust Separation
The course on Fine Dust Separation provides a comprehensive overview of the processes that are part of the fine dust separation. The emphasis is placed on practical aspects, supplemented by relevant theoretical information.
Topics of the course include:
- Evaluation of dust collection equipment
- Centrifugal collectors (cyclones)
- Fibrous filters (deep-bed filters)
- Fabric filters (surface filters)
- Wet scrubbers
- Electrical precipitators
- Selection of dust collection equipment
- Raw gas conditioning
The ticket price for each short course is € 580 (including VAT), registration can be made online on the Filtech website: https://filtech.de/short-courses/courses-overview
