The company smartGAS offers an extensive product portfolio of optical SF6 sensors on the market. Now the measuring range spectrum of the NDIR sensors has been extended by another diffusion sensor for room air monitoring and an analysis sensor for leak detection.
The non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensors combine measurement accuracy with compact design and easy handling. For the user, they offer a number of additional advantages: they are pre-calibrated, have long-term stability, are reliable and can be used directly without further adjustments. The power supply is 3.3 to 6 VDC, and Modbus ASCII and RTU are available as digital signal interfaces.
For ambient air monitoring of SF6 concentration in switchgear, but also in gas storage facilities, power plants and substations, as well as in plants for semi-finished product production, the Group has now extended its range of diffusion sensors to include the measuring range up to 200 ppm, thus rounding it off downwards for more accurate measurements. Like all smartGAS sensors, the diffusion sensors for ambient air monitoring from the BASICEVO series are characterized by low detection limits, low drift, a wide temperature range as well as a fast response time and low maintenance.
Leak detection even at high concentrations
The new compact and lightweight FLOWEVO SF6 sensor with a measuring range of 5,000 ppm is used in portable gas detectors or stationary SF6 detection devices for discontinuous or continuous measurement of SF6 leakage. In addition to the 50 ppm sensor, which detects even minimal SF6 leaks absolutely reliably due to its high sensitivity and very low lower detection limit, the 5,000 ppm version can now also be used to localize larger leaks directly at the point of emission. More sensitive sensors quickly reach the measuring range limit in the case of larger leaks and in this case make it difficult to localize the damage precisely. It is also ideally suited as a central sensor for room air monitoring with multiple sampling points via valves and hoses.
Versatile NDIR spectrum
The company is the only manufacturer to offer a modular system for SF6 sensors that cover the entire measurement spectrum from 50 ppm to 100 vol%, providing the widest range of optical infrared gas sensors for diffusion applications and process measurement technology on the market. Multigas sensors, for example in combination with carbon monoxide and other gases, are also part of the product range. The user decides what he needs: just the sensor, a ready-to-install OEM analysis system or a complete device. Thanks to the standardized design of the sensors, the two new NDIR sensors can be easily integrated into existing measurement systems via plug-and-play.
