In a further demonstration of industrial services provider Bilfinger’s expertise in the cement industry, the company’s specialists are installing refractory linings at a cement plant in Poland. The Group is also carrying out assembly work on various parts of the Cemex Polska plant. The contract comes under Bilfinger’s Engineering & Maintenance Continental Europe division.
With decades of experience in industrial process development and optimization, Bilfinger has specific, cross-sectoral expertise when it comes to planning and increasing energy efficiency measures. The company has tailored these capabilities to the needs of the cement industry.
“By delivering gains in process efficiency and system reliability, we are able to raise plant availability levels across the board. By making the plant more efficient overall, we can boost productivity and help cut cement cost per tonnes making us the go-to provider for clients like Cemex Polska.”
Bilfinger CEO Tom Blades
Cemex, one of the world’s major building materials companies, is drawing on Bilfinger’s know-how for the addition of a new cement clinker production line at Rudniki in Poland. The approximately 50-strong team of Bilfinger experts are installing the refractory linings for parts of the plant, which entails using around 2,000 tonnes of refractory material within a five-month period. The contract additionally includes assembly work during installation of Cemex Polska’s new production line.
For this project, Bilfinger is able to rely on its teams at the Bilfinger Service Center in Ożarów, Poland, where two task forces – one specializing in refractory work and the other focused on the mechanical side – have been deployed for Cemex Polska. Work centers on the extensive field of turnarounds, i.e. the general overhaul of large-scale facilities. Other activities involve maintaining crushers, mills and conveyors as well as replacing rotary kiln components such as the girth gear.
