Building materials company brings cement expertise on board

In a fur­ther demon­stra­tion of indus­tri­al ser­vices provider Bilfinger’s exper­tise in the cement indus­try, the company’s spe­cial­ists are installing refrac­to­ry lin­ings at a cement plant in Poland. The Group is also car­ry­ing out assem­bly work on var­i­ous parts of the Cemex Pol­s­ka plant. The con­tract comes under Bilfinger’s Engi­neer­ing & Main­te­nance Con­ti­nen­tal Europe division.
With decades of expe­ri­ence in indus­tri­al process devel­op­ment and opti­miza­tion, Bil­fin­ger has spe­cif­ic, cross-sec­toral exper­tise when it comes to plan­ning and increas­ing ener­gy effi­cien­cy mea­sures. The com­pa­ny has tai­lored these capa­bil­i­ties to the needs of the cement industry.

Cemex, one of the world’s major build­ing mate­ri­als com­pa­nies, is draw­ing on Bilfinger’s know-how for the addi­tion of a new cement clink­er pro­duc­tion line at Rud­ni­ki in Poland. The approx­i­mate­ly 50-strong team of Bil­fin­ger experts are installing the refrac­to­ry lin­ings for parts of the plant, which entails using around 2,000 tonnes of refrac­to­ry mate­r­i­al with­in a five-month peri­od. The con­tract addi­tion­al­ly includes assem­bly work dur­ing instal­la­tion of Cemex Polska’s new pro­duc­tion line.

For this project, Bil­fin­ger is able to rely on its teams at the Bil­fin­ger Ser­vice Cen­ter in Ożarów, Poland, where two task forces – one spe­cial­iz­ing in refrac­to­ry work and the oth­er focused on the mechan­i­cal side – have been deployed for Cemex Pol­s­ka. Work cen­ters on the exten­sive field of turn­arounds, i.e. the gen­er­al over­haul of large-scale facil­i­ties. Oth­er activ­i­ties involve main­tain­ing crush­ers, mills and con­vey­ors as well as replac­ing rotary kiln com­po­nents such as the girth gear.
