Automation solutions enable to improve plant reliability

Emer­son will demon­strate at SPS IPC Dri­ves 2018 how its advanced automa­tion solu­tions enable man­u­fac­tur­ers to improve plant reli­a­bil­i­ty, safe­ty and avail­abil­i­ty. Using Indus­tri­al Inter­net of Things (IIoT) appli­ca­tions and tech­nol­o­gy to place the right infor­ma­tion in the hands of the right experts, Emer­son facil­i­tates bet­ter and faster deci­sion-mak­ing that helps pre­vent unex­pect­ed down­time, a reduc­tion in pro­duc­tion per­for­mance and high­er main­te­nance costs that all affect profitability.
By embrac­ing the oppor­tu­ni­ties pre­sent­ed by Indus­try 4.0 and dig­i­tal trans­for­ma­tion, man­u­fac­tur­ers can max­i­mize the per­for­mance of their plant and reduce oper­at­ing costs. To help them achieve this, Emer­son pro­vides dig­i­tal plant archi­tec­tures and intel­li­gent devices that deliv­er improved con­trol and greater insight into the per­for­mance and health of machin­ery, plants and production.
SPS IPC Dri­ves 2018, Europe’s lead­ing trade fair for elec­tri­cal automa­tion, will be held in Nurem­berg, Ger­many, from 27th to 29th Novem­ber. Vis­i­tors to the Emer­son booth 451, Hall A, will dis­cov­er how Emerson’s Plantweb dig­i­tal ecosys­tem, which har­ness­es the pow­er of Indus­try 4.0 and IIoT appli­ca­tions, can be eas­i­ly imple­ment­ed with­out adding sys­tem com­plex­i­ty, lead­ing to improved pro­duc­tion per­for­mance and avail­abil­i­ty, and ensur­ing prod­uct qual­i­ty and machin­ery and work­er safe­ty. Emer­son indus­try experts will be avail­able to explain how the use of stan­dard­ized com­mu­ni­ca­tion pro­to­cols pro­vides greater access to process and device per­for­mance data, and how this can pro­vide action­able insights, enabling smarter decisions.
The com­pa­ny will demon­strate how its Asco and Aven­tics flu­id con­trol and pneu­mat­ics tech­nol­o­gy uses diag­nos­tics, sens­ing and mon­i­tor­ing capa­bil­i­ties to improve sys­tem uptime and per­for­mance, enhance safe­ty and opti­mize ener­gy usage. Vis­i­tors will be shown how con­nec­tiv­i­ty, via a range of com­mu­ni­ca­tions includ­ing Eth­er­net and IO-Link, pro­vides remote access to valve health infor­ma­tion, enabling faults to be iden­ti­fied ear­li­er and main­te­nance sched­ul­ing to be improved.
The lat­est Rose­mount and Micro Motion mea­sure­ment tech­nol­o­gy, includ­ing ana­lyt­i­cal, lev­el, tem­per­a­ture, pres­sure and flow devices, will be on dis­play and Emer­son experts will out­line how per­va­sive sens­ing appli­ca­tions, enabled by wire­less net­works, deliv­er action­able infor­ma­tion that can be used to quick­ly improve operations.
There will also be demon­stra­tions of machin­ery health mon­i­tor­ing, light­ing, pow­er sup­ply and con­trol sys­tems. This will include the DeltaV PK Con­troller, which enables stand­alone or eas­i­ly inte­grat­ed con­trol of skids and appli­ca­tions typ­i­cal­ly man­aged by PLCs, and the DeltaV mobile appli­ca­tion for iOS and Android devices, which deliv­ers real-time process val­ues, trends, alarms and key data to plant oper­a­tors vir­tu­al­ly any­where. This makes it eas­i­er to col­lab­o­rate and share crit­i­cal infor­ma­tion with man­agers and engi­neers and con­tributes to enhanced busi­ness results.
