Come January, SICK AG will increase its minority stake in MOBILISIS d.o.o. to 100 percent. The Croatian company will thus be fully transferred to the AG. The company has already held a stake in the IT company since 2017.
In the context of Industry 4.0 and the associated digital transformation, the AG focuses on innovations around software-based sensor solutions. With the acquisition, SICK is strengthening its expertise in the field of wireless networking of industrial IoT devices. MOBILISIS complements the sensor-based offering with cloud and edge solutions. The aim is to establish a seamless connection between sensor data and the cloud platform, which contributes significantly to rapid networking between the worlds of so-called Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT).
“Together with our accomplished colleagues at MOBILISIS, we will be able to offer application-specific digital sensor system solutions and services more quickly”
- Dr. Niels Syassen, Member of the Executive Board
A first milestone is to expand the portfolio around digital localization solutions in the context of Industrie 4.0 away from stationary conveyor systems and to realize applications on the store floor, within and between companies. In the future, this will enable users to create transparency about the whereabouts of their goods and merchandise as soon as they leave the stationary conveyor systems.
“With Mobilisis, we have already developed the first sensor solutions that close the gap between sensor and IT,” adds Dr. Niels Syassen. He speaks of joint development projects — including the TDC‑E edge gateway product series, SIM2000ST‑E, a system controller for track and trace applications, tags for indoor localization, and programming for localization solutions. In addition, MOBILISIS has successfully expanded its business core around intelligent transportation systems, fleet management and related cloud applications in recent years, filling the role of distributor and proven system integrator for the company in Croatia. Together, the Croatian business is thus also expected to grow.
Both parties have taken the opportunity and got to know each other in the past years of cooperation: “The cooperation is very trusting and enriching. We hope to continue this in the new structure,” says Dr. Niels Syassen, describing the joint work.
Goran Kanižaj, Managing Director of Mobilisis, adds, “Since our founding, we have driven our innovations around Industry 4.0, IoT and mobility. Our employees play a significant role in this. We employ accomplished professionals whose individual differences strengthen our teams. The strategic partnership has further accelerated our growth and market reputation since 2017. We are very proud of the integration and of becoming a full member of SICK. We are confident that together we can achieve even greater success.”
