Accolade for sustainability operations

The inter­na­tion­al­ly lead­ing rat­ing agency oekom research scru­ti­nis­es the sus­tain­abil­i­ty per­for­mance of com­pa­nies from all over the world. In Feb­ru­ary, Kro­nes once again received B- Prime sta­tus – for what is already the fourth time in succession.
172 indus­tri­al com­pa­nies were assessed by oekom research, the major­i­ty of them being rat­ed at D+. Only few­er than five per cent of these com­pa­nies were award­ed the max­i­mum pos­si­ble rat­ing of B- and thus rank among the lead­ing plant and machin­ery man­u­fac­tur­ers in terms of sustainability.
The rat­ing cov­ers the company’s oper­a­tions in regard to social respon­si­bil­i­ty and sus­tain­able eco-man­age­ment. These are weight­ed using more than 100 cri­te­ria specif­i­cal­ly select­ed as rel­e­vant to the sec­tor. The com­pa­ny per­formed par­tic­u­lar­ly well in two cat­e­gories: in the “staff” aspect, oekom research praised the oppor­tu­ni­ties for staff in terms of an equi­table work-life bal­ance, while in regard to “eco-effi­cien­cy”, the rat­ing agency espe­cial­ly empha­sised the respon­si­ble man­age­ment of media and ener­gy at Krones.
“The fact that this year we’ve again defend­ed our B- Prime sta­tus is a notable suc­cess. The rat­ing pro­vides us with an inde­pen­dent appraisal that this year, too, con­firms that we’re on the right track when it comes to sus­tain­abil­i­ty,” to quote a grat­i­fied Nico Irrgang, CSR Project Coordinator.
