Now, Emerson has expanded its line of ASCO™ Series 090 miniature solenoid valves to offer a new 3‑way Series 090 valve. This configuration allows for lighter weight solutions with a smaller footprint for gas control in oxygen delivery and compression therapy applications, as well as in gas analyzers.
Originally developed as a 2‑way valve for air and inert gases in portable medical equipment, the series offers a compact architecture, a small footprint (10.8 millimeters), and a service life of 50 million cycles. These features ensure maximum reliability. The new 3‑way configuration of the 090 Series valve allows the same mixing or distribution operation to be provided as by a pair of 2‑way valves. This further simplifies the design of small, high-precision gas delivery systems for oxygen and other medical devices for home health care.
Like all 090 Series valves, the new 3‑way valve optimizes gas flow with a flow-to-size ratio that is excellent for portable medical devices. Molded from PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) plastic, the valve body features seals made of durable FKM (fluorocarbon) elastomer. The 090 Series actuator combines high reliability with low power consumption, maximizing battery and equipment life. The 090 Series valve is also compliant with all relevant RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and CE directives.
