Important order to equip the German Armed Forces medical facility in Gao

The fledg­ling Rhein­metall sub­sidiary Zep­pelin Mobile Sys­teme GmbH (ZMS) has been com­mis­sioned by the Ger­man armed forces to pro­vide and inte­grate state-of-the-art med­ical tech­nol­o­gy into the med­ical sup­ply facil­i­ty of the Ger­man armed forces’ “Camp Cas­tor” field camp in Gao, Mali. The order has a total vol­ume in the low dou­ble-dig­it mil­lion euro range. The mate­r­i­al will be sup­plied in the sec­ond half of the year and inte­gra­tion on site in Mali is planned for the end of the year.

In addi­tion to the pro­vi­sion and inte­gra­tion of the high-qual­i­ty med­ical tech­nol­o­gy into the fixed infra­struc­ture of the field camp in Gao, the ser­vice pack­age in this order also includes train­ing of per­son­nel, com­pre­hen­sive doc­u­men­ta­tion ser­vices and a ser­vice and main­te­nance package.

Rhein­metall acquired the shares in Zep­pelin Mobile Sys­teme GmbH, a com­pa­ny based in Meck­en­beuren in the Lake Con­stance region, in Novem­ber 2021. This acqui­si­tion fol­lows the strate­gic deci­sion to sig­nif­i­cant­ly expand the range of ser­vices relat­ed to cus­tomers’ inter­na­tion­al deploy­ment com­mit­ments with the Inter­na­tion­al Projects and Ser­vices busi­ness unit. ZMS is con­tribut­ing its many years of exper­tise in the field of med­ical tech­nol­o­gy and mobile med­ical services.

Beyond the field of med­i­cine, ZMS is the lead­ing man­u­fac­tur­er of indi­vid­ual cus­tomer-spe­cif­ic shel­ter solu­tions for a wide range of appli­ca­tions in the secu­ri­ty and defense indus­try. The high-qual­i­ty shel­ter con­cepts are used par­tic­u­lar­ly fre­quent­ly in the field of mil­i­tary sup­ply, for exam­ple in field kitchens, decon­t­a­m­i­na­tion sys­tems or mobile repair facil­i­ties, as well as in mil­i­tary com­mu­ni­ca­tions tech­nol­o­gy The com­pa­ny is already a direct or indi­rect sup­pli­er to the Ger­man armed forces in sev­er­al projects and programs.

With its new Inter­na­tion­al Projects and Ser­vices busi­ness unit, which includes Rhein­metall Project Solu­tions GmbH and also ZMS GmbH, Rhein­metall has repo­si­tioned itself in a key inter­na­tion­al mar­ket. In future, the Rhein­m­ne­tall busi­ness unit will pool resources and capa­bil­i­ties for ser­vices such as mis­sion sup­port, depot orga­ni­za­tion or ammu­ni­tion waste dis­pos­al. The aim is to pro­vide cus­tomers with long-term sup­port for their mis­sions, includ­ing spe­cif­ic ser­vices. Rhein­metal­l’s aspi­ra­tion is to act as a “one-stop store”. For exam­ple, Rhein­metall can plan and build field camps for deploy­ment, cre­ate hard­ened areas, pro­vide sur­veil­lance includ­ing state-of-the-art sen­sors and robot­ics, oper­ate the field camp includ­ing the nec­es­sary logis­tics ser­vices and pro­vi­sion of per­son­nel, and dis­man­tle it at the end of the mis­sion. Coop­er­a­tions with oth­er com­pa­nies and fur­ther acqui­si­tions are planned to expand the port­fo­lio even further.
