Green hydrogen is considered key to the decarbonization of many sectors and a core element of the energy transition. The European Alliance for Clean Hydrogen plays a crucial role in implementing the EU’s hydrogen strategy.
“By joining, we want to support the initiatives to decarbonize and achieve the climate targets and actively contribute to a sustainable future.”
- Paul Borggreve, Corporate Director Marketing, Endress+Hauser Group
Valuable contribution to sustainable development
The Alliance is an initiative of the European Commission. It brings together stakeholders from industry, science, public authorities and civil society. In this way, it mobilizes resources and develops an investment agenda that promotes the production and use of renewable hydrogen and builds a concrete project pipeline. This aims to lay the foundation for a sustainable and competitive industrial hydrogen ecosystem in the EU.
Hydrogen is the most viable alternative to fossil fuels and can enable the transition to a CO2-neutral future in various sectors. These include the oil and gas sector and the chemical industry, but also sectors such as steel and cement production, where avoiding emissions is particularly difficult. “Green hydrogen is thus a key to the energy transition,” adds Jens Hundrieser, Regional Industry Manager Europe Energy & Metal.
Comprehensive range for hydrogen applications
The company already has a broad portfolio of products for the critical process measurement points in the production, storage and use of hydrogen. These include laser-based gas analyzers for determining gas quality, as well as solutions for flow and level measurements in tanks containing liquid hydrogen.
The instruments meet the highest requirements for process and environmental safety. Hydrogen applications require, among other things, instruments that can withstand high process pressures of 1,000 bar and more or are suitable for extreme temperatures down to minus 253 degrees Celsius. “In the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance, we can learn together with our partners and further improve our range of products and solutions for the hydrogen economy,” says Paul Borggreve.
