As an international company with more than 1,300 employees in 146 countries, Dürr Dental is faced with the challenge of adapting its services to the language requirements of the target countries at the highest level.
Implementing demanding translation tasks in an uncomplicated way
Technical documentation and marketing measures at the company have to be translated into a total of 32 languages. Both national language and cultural peculiarities have to be taken into account and legal hurdles such as conformity with the new EU Medical Devices Regulation MDR have to be overcome. In the past, manual and decentralized projects made language management time-consuming and cost-intensive for the Group. In addition, the database potential was not optimally utilized and the workflow for customer reviews in the national subsidiaries was complicated.
The Transline Portal provides a central platform for requesting quotes, creating orders, and managing and monitoring the translation workload in its entirety. The solution integrates a total of three individual translation databases, on the basis of which each new text to be translated is compared in real time with previously translated texts. In this way, translations are recycled to a certain extent, unnecessary effort is avoided, and costs are reduced as early as the automated quote generation stage.
Innovative language technologies for MDR compliance
The company also benefits from the terminology tool Termflow. The system, developed in-house by Transline, provides a uniform, MDR-compliant technical vocabulary for translation, on the basis of which consistent translation is guaranteed permanently and across the board. Thanks to the central, web-based provision of information with Termflow, every employee at Dürr Dental has access to uniform definitions, images and graphics, so that inconsistencies are systematically prevented even in the source texts. Unambiguous technical language in the source text thus speeds up the translation process and increases the quality of the target texts.
Transline also integrates the customer review in the target countries directly into the workflow: With the help of TBlue Visual Review, customer reviews and changes to the finished translations can be made directly in the original layout of the source text. This not only simplifies the process, but also creates contextual clarity in the review right from the start. All corrections can be tracked at any time, which above all ensures MDR compliance. The final text version is automatically stored in the translation memory and is permanently available there.
