Teledyne e2v from Teledyne Technologies [NYSE: TDY] and part of the Teledyne Imaging Group, introduces Tetra, a new family of sensors. The sensors are ideally suited for food sortation, as well as tasks in recycling, logistics, pick-and-place, document scanning, and in other imaging applications that require cost-effective monochrome, color, and multispectral image capture.
These sensors are available with 2k resolution and a pixel size of 14 µm x 14 µm or with 4k resolution and a pixel size of 7 µm x 7 µm at a maximum line rate of 128 kHz. The monochrome models can be configured to output one, two, or four lines, and the color models offer RGB and monochrome outputs. Using wafer-level coated dichroic filters, the sensor also enables spectrally independent RGB and NIR output for multispectral imaging.
Based on a synchronized shutter design, Tetra provides low noise image acquisition and high dynamic range with true correlated double sampling (CDS). Each channel has its own exposure control, allowing easy white balance.
The ceramic LCC package also provides high performance and reliability over a wide operating temperature range. The sensor data ports have high signal integrity and simple interfaces for quick system integration.
“The sorting industry has begun to transition its traditional technology from color to multispectral imaging. With its unique RGB + NIR capability, this next-generation technology is designed to improve quality and safety in food sorting.”
