Industrial power supply operates from a 3‑phase input

TDK Cor­po­ra­tion (TSE 6762) announces the intro­duc­tion of the TPS4000-24 pow­er sup­ply rat­ed at up to 4,080W at 24V. The TPS series can oper­ate auto­mat­i­cal­ly from 400, 440, and 480Vac nom­i­nal delta or WYE inputs, with­out wiring changes or the need for large, cost­ly step-down trans­form­ers. This indus­tri­al grade pow­er sup­ply is ide­al for use in a wide range of appli­ca­tions includ­ing test and mea­sure­ment equip­ment, semi­con­duc­tor fab­ri­ca­tion, addi­tive man­u­fac­tur­ing, print­ers, laser cut­ting and RF pow­er amplifiers.

The TPS4000 is ful­ly fea­tured with out­put volt­age and cur­rent pro­gram­ming, warn­ing sig­nals, con­fig­urable remote on/off, a 12V 0.3A stand­by volt­age and a PMBus inter­face. Using this com­mu­ni­ca­tions func­tion allows remote mon­i­tor­ing of the out­put volt­age, out­put cur­rent, inter­nal tem­per­a­ture, sta­tus sig­nals and fan speed. The out­put volt­age, over cur­rent lim­it and the remote on/off are pro­gram­ma­ble via the PMBus™. The out­put volt­age is adjustable from 19.2 to 28.5V and the cur­rent lim­it point by 70–105% using front pan­el poten­tiome­ters or an ana­logue 0–5Vdc volt­age. An inter­nal ORing FET sim­pli­fies the par­al­lel oper­a­tion of up to 8 units for redun­dant or high­er pow­er requirements.

Exclud­ing the out­put bus­bars, the unit mea­sures 107 x 84.4 x 335mm, mak­ing it suit­able for 2U high rack­ing sys­tems. The weight of the prod­uct is just 4kg. With a typ­i­cal effi­cien­cy of 92%, the TPS can start up at ‑40°C, oper­ate at full load in ambi­ent tem­per­a­tures of ‑10°C to +50°C, and deliv­er 55% load at 70°C. Cool­ing is pro­vid­ed by a vari­able speed, tem­per­a­ture con­trolled fan to reduce acousti­cal noise and the ingress of con­tain­ments. The pow­er sup­ply has 3kVac input to out­put, 2kVac input to ground and 500Vdc out­put to ground isolation.

The three year war­ran­ty TPS is safe­ty cer­ti­fied to IEC/EN/UL 60950–1 (62368–1 pend­ing) and is CE marked to the Low Volt­age, EMC and RoHS Direc­tives. The TPS4000 also com­plies with EN55032‑A EMI, SEMI F47-0706, IEC 61000–3‑2, IEC 61000–4 and is designed to meet the MIL‑STD‑461F/G CS101, CS114 (Army Ground), CS115, CS116 immu­ni­ty standard.
