Opti­mal sys­tem oper­a­tions are a fun­da­men­tal ele­ment of effi­cient and reli­able bio­log­i­cal waste­water treat­ment. Wilo, the Dort­mund-based tech­nol­o­gy com­pa­ny offers dig­i­tal solu­tions in com­bi­na­tion with high-effi­cien­cy prod­ucts to mas­ter the future chal­lenges fac­ing the water man­age­ment sec­tor. The new con­trol sys­tem for waste­water treat­ment plants Wilo-TP Con­trol now offers a dig­i­tal inter­face between the mea­sur­ing tech­nol­o­gy and the machin­ery that enables intu­itive mon­i­tor­ing. Wilo’s sub­mersible and ver­ti­cal mix­ers as well as aer­a­tors fur­ther opti­mise the waste­water treat­ment plant.
The seam­less oper­a­tion of the sys­tem is a fun­da­men­tal ele­ment for the effi­cient and reli­able bio­log­i­cal waste­water treat­ment. But unplanned sea­son­al fluc­tu­a­tions can always occur, i.e. tem­po­rary region­al or indus­tri­al sur­plus loads or reduc­tions. In such sce­nar­ios, it is nec­es­sary to adjust the sys­tem para­me­ters, such as the oxy­gen sup­ply or mix­er out­put. Wilo-TP Con­trol is the inter­face between mea­sur­ing tech­nol­o­gy and machin­ery that uses dig­i­tal con­trol­ling, reg­u­lat­ing and mon­i­tor­ing to ensure the con­sis­tent reli­a­bil­i­ty of process­es. The con­trol sys­tem man­ages all process-rel­e­vant oper­a­tions, from pre-clean­ing to bio­log­i­cal clean­ing and sec­ondary treat­ment and sup­ports the visu­al­i­sa­tion and con­trol­ling of process­es, such as: aer­a­tion cycles, return acti­vat­ed sludge flow rates, removal of excess sludge, dos­ing of floc­cu­la­tion agents, etc. Depend­ing on the select­ed tech­nol­o­gy, Wilo con­fig­ures the con­trol sys­tem for the spe­cif­ic appli­ca­tion sce­nario and cus­tomis­es the tech­nolo­gies and indi­vid­ual com­po­nents for the indi­vid­ual appli­ca­tion require­ments. This ensures that the nitri­fi­ca­tion, den­i­tri­fi­ca­tion, feed­ing process­es, con­veyance of return acti­vat­ed sludge, decant­i­ng process­es, excess sludge extrac­tion and the addi­tion of pre­cip­i­tants are per­fect­ly fine-tuned. The con­di­tion of the sewage is mea­sured with sen­sors that send val­ues to the con­trol sys­tem, which com­pares the real-time data to the pre­vi­ous­ly para­metrised data. The sys­tem can be adjust­ed if the data shows dis­crep­an­cies in terms of oxy­gen, redox poten­tial, tem­per­a­ture or pH value.

Expertise for aeration systems

Both the Wilo-Sevio AIR and Wilo-Sevio ELASTOX offer out­stand­ing sys­tem effi­cien­cy for bio­log­i­cal treat­ment and serve to opti­mise the aer­a­tion process when designed as tube, pan­el or disc dif­fusers. For treat­ing sewage, sludge or waste­water, mix­ing for the nitri­fi­ca­tion process, sludge dehy­dra­tion, MBBR process, cir­cu­la­tion of liquids.
The very lim­it­ed con­ver­sion require­ments result in low instal­la­tion costs, which makes the aer­a­tors per­fect for the upgrad­ing or con­ver­sion of exist­ing waste­water treat­ment plants. The system’s out­stand­ing effi­cien­cy is ensured by a high spe­cif­ic oxy­gen entry at a low pres­sure loss. This is achieved by an opti­mised per­fo­ra­tion of the diaphragms, opti­mised diaphragm mate­ri­als that are tai­lored to cus­tomer require­ments and the con­di­tion of the local wastewater.
