The company’s Hungarian CEE hub, Coveris Pirtó, has now switched to 100% renewable energy in line with Coveris’ “No Waste” sustainability strategy. Coveris Pirtó has been operating in the European market for 35 years, producing flexible packaging for food and industrial goods, with an annual production volume of 2,500 tons of film.
Since the beginning of 2022, the Hungarian plant now relies 100% on renewable energy, including biomass and solar energy. According to local management, the decision to switch to sustainable production was not an easy step — but a necessary one on the road to a more sustainable future.
“By switching to green power, less harmful CO2 is released into the atmosphere. This sustainable change will save about 700,000 kg of CO2 emissions. This will allow the company to reduce its Scope 2 emissions to zero.”
- Gabriella Papp, Managing Director
“More and more of our customers are pursuing stringent sustainability goals and this move supports their efforts to improve their carbon footprint. As a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging solutions, we are convinced that we can also inspire other companies and customers to take steps towards a more sustainable future,” adds Papp.
