100% focus on renewable energy

The com­pa­ny’s Hun­gar­i­an CEE hub, Cov­eris Pirtó, has now switched to 100% renew­able ener­gy in line with Cov­eris’ “No Waste” sus­tain­abil­i­ty strat­e­gy. Cov­eris Pirtó has been oper­at­ing in the Euro­pean mar­ket for 35 years, pro­duc­ing flex­i­ble pack­ag­ing for food and indus­tri­al goods, with an annu­al pro­duc­tion vol­ume of 2,500 tons of film.

Since the begin­ning of 2022, the Hun­gar­i­an plant now relies 100% on renew­able ener­gy, includ­ing bio­mass and solar ener­gy. Accord­ing to local man­age­ment, the deci­sion to switch to sus­tain­able pro­duc­tion was not an easy step — but a nec­es­sary one on the road to a more sus­tain­able future.

“By switch­ing to green pow­er, less harm­ful CO2 is released into the atmos­phere. This sus­tain­able change will save about 700,000 kg of CO2 emis­sions. This will allow the com­pa­ny to reduce its Scope 2 emis­sions to zero.”
